Inventory Scan
Scanning an Order

Follow scanner specification instructions to scan your order: Each scan adds one each of the item scanned to the scanner memory.
Note: If you prefer, you can scan each item one time to capture the Part numbers that you want to order. When you validate the order in the Grainger Inventory Solutions application, you will have the opportunity to revise the order quantities. -
When you have completed scanning all items, follow scanner specification instructions to connect your scanner to the PC where the Grainger Inventory Scan application is installed:
- Open the Grainger Inventory Scan application:
- Right click the icon in your system tray and select
- If the icon does not appear in your systems tray, double click the Grainger Inventory Scan Icon on your desktop to move the icon to your systems tray.
OR - Follow the menu path
Start > Programs > Grainger Inventory Scan

After a few seconds the program will start to retrieve the scanned items from your scanner. As each step is completed, you should see populated by each step.

When the items have been sent you should see
Note: The number of items retrieved represents the number of times you scanned. The number of items sent represents the number of Part numbers ordered. If you scanned any bar codes multiple times, these numbers will be different.
View Sent Orders History in the Activity Log
Open the Activity Log
- From within the Inventory Scan application, Click on Help > Activity Log
- If you do not have the Inventory Scan application open, Right click the icon in your system tray and select .
The log will acknowledge that the transaction was sent to the Grainger Inventory Solutions application or provide details if a transaction failed to be sent. The detail in the activity log should be used when calling for technical support.
Note: This log retains history of the last five uploads. Activity log history is not archived and cannot be recovered once it rolls off the log.
